i like it. not overly much. but...i like it. out of all TW idol dramas i've watched, it's safe to say Autumn's Concerto is the best.
though the plot is quite predictable, not to mention cliched drama tricks - a given in TW idol dramas *rolls eyes*, it's a well-made drama. it didn't feel too idol-drama-ish when i was watching. a surprise actually, considering the trend in TW these past few years.
it's a feminist-laden drama. you can find it in every character, even male characters. and i like that it's presented in a subtle way, though sometimes it's frustrating to watch. coz it's portrayed too often in dramas nowadays that it's kinda sickening. even the drama crew is consisted mostly of female crews. haha...that kinda explains it XP
what i like most about this drama is the chemistry between all the characters, especially the happy family of three and the village folks. and it's also what makes the drama work. it's really fun watching how the characters interact. and i have to give the actors credit for portraying the dynamics nicely. and kudos to the director for leading them well. a pity the story's too predictable though. else they might have gotten ratings.
and i also like the cinematography and editing. unlike those typical TW idol dramas, there's no excessive zoom in zoom out or lighting effects. i like that they used more natural light effects, so much easier on the eyes when watching.
as much as i'm impressed by Van Ness's acting skills, i still have issues with his speech. okok, i get that his first language is not Mandarin and all, but somehow, the way he delivered his lines sounds off to me. maybe it's his tone, or breathing, i'm not sure. still, i have to give him credit for delivering all those legal stuff believably. it's not easy reading them aloud, let alone delivering all those lines while acting for someone weak in Mandarin. but overall, it was fun to watch him improve as the drama progressed. if only his facial expressions were that rich in his previous works, he would've gotten acknowledged as an actor sooner. guess this drama was the right formula for him. well, i'm glad for him.
i like An Yi Xuan's acting. but really, this is kacang putih for her lah. i kinda wished her character was portrayed as a stronger woman as deserved. there were too few opportunities showing that when we all know how strong her character can be. she cries beautifully though. and it's good that she overcame her intimate-scenes-phobia, but there weren't any intense intimacy anyway. oh...that's another reason why i like this drama - appropriate use of intimacy XD
oh..the kid is adorable. hard to believe he's just 5 when he worked in the drama. i hope his parents are taking good care of him.
hahaha...i super dig the Hua village folks' name. Hua Ze Lei, Hua Tian Xi Shi, Hua Sheng Tang, Hua Bu Wan, Hua Chi Xin, etc. hahahahahaha. i laugh everytime i see their name.
oh..and credits to the scriptwriters for getting their medical facts right and realistic. though their timeline is kinda screwed up in some areas. oh well, nothing is perfect.
overall, an enjoyable drama. not a must-watch, but it restores the image of TW idol dramas.
