i may have been the facilitator. but i think i gained more than what i went in for.
i feel myself opening up to face my mistakes in a more objective way. i feel myself more readily accepting of my shortcomings and try what i could to change them. i feel more ready to embrace the feeling of failure yet at the same time be more excited when i succeed. even if they're just the tiniest steps. i feel myself more ready to admit that i am wrong in front of my colleagues. i feel myself thinking more positively.
and i feel blessed that these amazing people are so open to sharing their experiences, struggles, wisdom and themselves with me. helps me a lot in finding my footing in this work. and what they've shared with me, i'll keep them in my heart always.
thank you so much.
well, i still have a lot to work on. but at least now i have a clearer focus of what's more important when previously i'm just all over the place, trying to absorb and do so many things at the same time that at one point i almost crashed and burned.
and first, i'll start with doing my job well. apply the ABA. and get myself enough sleep (though it'll be quite difficult in the beginning).
then i have to remind myself to take a step back when things are starting to go wrong for me. take deep breaths and count to ten. and ask for help.
and then the rest...supporting my colleague, influencing parents and colleagues, and all the other nitty gritty stuff, i'll think about it when i have time to spare.
i might not have entered this with an entirely right purpose, but now i have one. i am to help the child function more easily and comfortably in this world us mere humans define normal. and while i'm at it, i'll enjoy and celebrate each small achievements from each child and mine. and if i could influence the child's family to enjoy their child while they teach and take care of them, i'll feel happy and contented. and of course, do some advocating work for them as well.
newfound purpose? =)
