we had many difficulties getting him to settle in for the past year. and though it has improved a lot since the parent-teacher meeting, today was another milestone.

he was deliberately challenging us again. going against the class rules we mentioned not a minute earlier.
then i walked in front of him, told him in my matter-of-fact voice, that it's circle time now, and he has to listen to teacher, sit nice, and pay attention.
usually, he would just reluctantly comply and at least 2 minutes later, misbehave all over again.

today, he just looked at me, and said coolly: "Ok lah!"

and he really made good of his promise.

i was so happy today that he's starting to listen, not hear.
