tone

almost successfully held me tongue throughout. finally couldn't keep silent anymore when the kid came in with his ball. thought i told the kid to go outside and play quite nicely and unoffensively.

but it seems my tone was off. too serious, mt said. too curt, me mom said.

well, someone had to say something since the parents wouldn't. coz it's just not acceptable to me to play ball in the dining room. when i'm eating. i know it's the same for you, but why didn't you say anything until i opened my mouth and you deem it wrongly said.

i can make a lot of excuses. i could say it was the hormones. i could say it's the weather. i could even say it's my "career bug". but i won't. coz i too realize i could have used a softer tone with him.

though i still don't think i did anything seriously wrong, coz the situation called for it. however, it made me realize that i too don't have to use that firm tone with my kids when i'm talking to them (alright, i admit, when i'm instructing them).

as much as i'm still not happy about her criticising me for what i did, i'm glad i learned something from it.

and as for the kid, i'll try to keep my mouth shut coz he's not my student and he's not my kid. difficult as it is, i'll keep my eyes and ears shut too.
