where do you draw the line? being attached yet detached with the kids.

after what his mom told us this morning, i finally understand their feelings towards that family. how angry, frustrated, sad, disappointed and helpless they must have felt when they found out about their situation. though it's a totally different situation, i finally understand the need to detach yourself from the kids.

but it's really hard.

how can i work with the kids if i don't understand their environment, their background, their character, their well-being?
yet, how can i do my job and continue to build my career if i don't detach myself and see from a critical point of view so that i could help them as best i can?

sharing their journey, sharing their story, sharing their learning, i never expected myself to see the end of it. but i might just will.
i sincerely hope not.

i was stunned. but at that moment, i only felt sympathetic, and a sense of loss. not until i retold what i'd heard, that all these intense emotions come up. but never a feeling or any thought to give up. and i hope his family won't. coz miracles do happen, right?

this is hard. i knew what i was getting into when i stepped on this path, but facing it head on is totally different.
and it's never going to get any easier.
i can only change the way i think and feel about it, coz i'm no good to the kids if i can't cope myself.
